George III Crowns
Although George III reigned for sixty years from 1760 to 1820, the only crowns issued were in the last three years of his reign, apart from Bank of England dollars issued as an emergency measure in 1804.

Obverse
Laureate head of George III facing right, the engravers name PISTRUCCI in raised letters beneath the neck

Reverse:
The reverse features Benedetto Pistrucci's magnificent design of St. George on horseback slaying the dragon, first used on gold sovereigns of George III in 1817. His full name PISTRUCCI appears in the exergue to the right of the date.
The legend:-

is in a garter.

Edge
The edges are inscribed in raised lettering:-
DECUS ET TUTAMEN ANNO REGNI xxx
Where xxx represents the regnal year in Roman numerals.
