Victoria Jubilee Head
There were three main obverse types for Queen Victoria, the Jubilee Head, was introduced in 1887, and was used on all coins. It continued until 1893 when the Old Head was introduced. The reverse types were also changed at the same times.

Obverse:
Jubilee head portrait of Queen Victoria, crowned, facing left.
The obverse inscription reads:
VICTORIA DEI GRATIA BRITT REGINA FD

Reverse:
The reverse design bears the inscription "HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE".
The reverse legend reads:
18 87

Edge
The edge is milled:

Honi Soit Qui Mal Y Pense

The text "Honi Soit Qui Mal Y Pense" is displayed on the garter, which runs around the shield. This is a French motto, which when translated means "Shame on whosoever would think badly of it".

This is the motto of the Order of the Garter, the highest order of chivalry in the UK. Find out more about it here.
