Edward VII Crowns
Although crowns had been issued regularly for Victoria from 1887 to 1900, the only crown issued for Edward VII was in 1902 for his coronation. Some were issued for circulation, and others were issued as a matt finish proof in the proof or specimen sets issued in that year.

Obverse:
Bare head of King Edward facing right. The engraver's initials De S. for G. W. De Saulles appear raised beneath the head.
EDWARDVS VII DEI GRA BRITT OMN REX FID DEF IND IMP

Reverse:
The reverse features Benedetto Pistrucci's magnificent design of St. George on horseback slaying the dragon, first used on gold sovereigns of George III in 1817. The initials B.P. appear in the exergue to the right of the date.
There is no legend on the reverse, apart from the date in the exergue.

Edge
The edge is inscribed in raised lettering, with six pointed stars as separators:
DECUS ET TUTAMEN ANNO REGNI II
