Swiss

A Brief Swiss History
Switzerland is in western Europe, bordered by France, Germany, Italy and Austria. It has four official languages French, German, Italian and Romansch, a Latin dialect spoken by about 1% of its population. It includes large parts of the Alps, and for much of its history has been split into small isolated communities under local rule.
It's economy is centred mainly around a well developed manufacturing industry with machinery, chemicals, watches and clocks being exported.

Swiss Coins
The franc is the currency and legal tender of Switzerland and Liechtenstein. The Swiss franc is the only version of the franc still issued in Europe. The Swiss National Bank issues banknotes and the federal Swissmint issues coins. The coinage of Switzerland has been struck at the Bern Mint since 1853 with only a few exceptions. All coins minted there up until 1969 will carry a B mint mark, except for in 1968 when the mint mark was discontinued on the 2 Centime and the 2 Franc. 100 Centimes = 1 Franc.

Switzerland were one of the few countries to issue any gold coins during and the years closely following World War II.
Britain, for example, did not issue any gold sovereigns between 1932 until 1957, except for those included in the proof sets of 1937. Most countries were still struggling to recover from the economic effects of World War II, and were desperately trying to retain or rebuild their gold reserves.
