No Gold Sovereigns
First, the bad news. There were no gold sovereigns or any other British gold coins issued in 1953. In fact there were only 4 different British coins issued in 1953, apart from Maundy Money. Now for the good news. The following is a list of suggested gift ideas for 1953, suitable for golden wedding or fiftieth birthday gifts.

2002 British Coin Sets
It is too early for us to know yet whether there will be any other coins issued to celebrate the golden jubilee which may be included in the mint coin sets or proof coin sets issue for 2002. It is possible that coins to celebrate this event may be restricted solely to gold coins, for obvious reasons.
