The 1964 Bermuda crown or five shillings is one of only two coin issues for Bermuda under the pre-decimal or British coinage systems, the other being the 1959 crown issued for the 350th anniversary of its founding. Strangely enough we do not know the specific reason for the 1964 crown being issued, it may have simply been because of the impending change to decimal currency in Great Britain which would also affect the Bermudan coins. Being a crown sized silver coin, it would make an attractive addition to any coin collection.

Description
Obverse
The crowned head of Queen Elizabeth II facing right, and the inscription ELIZABETH II DEI GRATIA REGINA.

Reverse
The coat of arms of Bermuda with the date 19 64 at either side. Beneath is the Bermudan motto QUO FATA FERUNT on a scroll, while above is the inscription ONE BERMUDA CROWN
