1979 General Election Medallions
On the 3rd May 1979 the United Kingdom held a general election, the election was the first of four consecutive election victories for the Conservative Party, and Margaret Thatcher became the United Kingdom's - and Europe's - first female head of government.

This medallion issued by The Birmingham Mint is one of 5,000 in 22ct gold on solid sterling silver. It was also issued in platinum and sterling silver.
