Margaret Thatcher & Una & the Lion Medallion
Issued by Pobjoy Mint.

We photographed this medallion way back in October 2006. As it it now May 2007, you can tell we have been busy. It's now so long ago, that we cannot find the medallion, so that we can complete this page. To some people it sounds ridiculous that we can mislay stock, but we buy in so many different items, with a wide range of values, that it is not always practical to track everything at each stage. With high value items, they usually get priority to photograph, and then get returned to the appropriate team member to continue working with. For lower value items, with a lower priority, there are a number of workflow paths they can take before they are fully processed through our "system". First, they can sit in the photographer's "In" box for quite a while, then they might wait in an "Out" box, until the aftershot processing is completed. Once the finished and web-ready photographs get into my own inbox, I may decide to work with them immediately, or they may have to wait until I get a few quiet moments, to get booted up the priority list.
At any one time, we have many boxes of material in different stages of stock processing, so rather than waste time ploughing through them, we may decide to wait untl the item physically emerges.
As this medallion seems to have been considered as low priority, we can guess that it is not of high value, but at this stage, as we cannot physically locate it, or recall enough about it, we do not even know whether it is gold, or merely gold-plated.

Thank Google
Since writing the above, we have seen a similar item (on eBay!), which states it to be 22 mms in diameter, and made of 9 carat gold.
More to follow.

Buying & Selling
Buyers and sellers alike may be interested to note that gold medallions like these often trade at prices close to their intrinsic metal value. While this may not be what sellers wish to hear, it should delight potential buyers.
At the time of creating this page, we had a one of these medallions in stock, and would be happy to sell it for a modest premium over their intrinsic gold content, however as with many pages of our website, this page has a dual purpose, to sell our stock, and to provide information. If you have a similar medallion, which you would like to sell, we would be pleased to hear from you.

We Buy Medals & Medallions
We make an active market in medals and medallions, whether individually, or in complete sets and collections. Buying and selling prices vary with the market price of silver (or gold where appropriate).
The secondary (secondhand) market prices for silver medallions is usually quite competitively priced, and for connoisseurs of medallic or numismatic art, previously owned medallion sets often represent a bargain especially compared with the original new prices.
Please contact us if you have medals or medallions for sale.
