This silver medallion was issued in 1979 to commemorate the vsiit to Auschwitz-Birkenru State Museum by Pope John Paul II.
The museum is located in Auschwitz, Poland to commemorate the lives lost in concentration camps during World War II.
In 1979, Pope John Paul II celebrated mass in the grounds of the museum.
