Commemorating 150 Years of the Incorporation of the Great Western Railway
Struck by the Royal Mint, and issued by the Firefly Trust
Obverse
The locomotive Fire Fly, with the arms of the Great Western Railway Company, which consists of the shields, crest and mottoes of the Cities of London and Bristol.
The inscriptions read (around the edge):

Reverse
The coats of arms of Cities and Towns closely associated with the GWR; Swindon, Cardiff, Exeter, Plymouth, Truro, and Wolverhampton, around a centrally places GWR button badge.
The opening dates of important sections of the line are recorded in the outer inscription:
PADDINGTON - MAIDENHEAD 4TH JUNE 1838. BRISTOL - BATH 31ST AUGUST 1840. BRISTOL - EXETER 1ST MAY 1844.
