Tower Bridge

Tower Bridge is both a bascule and suspension bridge that spans across the River Thames. It officially opened on 30th June, 1894.

Over 70,000 tons of concrete were used on the bed of the River Thames, in order to support the bridge.

Obverse
The obverse of the medallion features an image of Tower Bridge with the text "TOWER BRIDGE 1894 1994".

Reverse
The reverse is a shield bearing various heraldic beasts, presumably symbolising the Royal Mint, with the legend:- ROYAL MINT
CENTENARY MEDAL
