Trafalgar on Reverse of 2005 Crown

Two separate UK £5 crowns will be issued in 2005. One to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805, and one to commemorate the death of Admiral Horatio Nelson at the battle.

Gold Silver and Base Metal Versions
As from 1990, the five pound crowns have been produced in a number of different versions, and in three different metals. An ordinary uncirculated base metal version will be available from banks and post offices later in the year.
Proof versions of the above cupro-nickel coins are available as part of the 2005 Proof Coin Sets.
The silver proof version and gold proof version are also expected in January for the Trafalgar coin, and October for the Nelson coin.
