The Queens 80th birthday was celebrated in 2006. This coin issued by The London Mint Office from Tristan da Cunha (TDC) commemorates this milestone.
There was quite a bit of controversy around the issue date of this coin. The London Mint Office advertised to buy a £5 coin for £5 to commemorate such an occasion. It was only on furthur reading of the small print that most people realised you were paying £5 of UK legal tender money for a non UK legal tender coin.
