2012 has seen a change in the sets the Royal Mint produce. Now both the uncirculated coin set and the proof sets contain the same ten coins - whereas previously the uncirculated sets did not contain the £5 crown. The Coins of the Year Set does not contain the £5 but we will not be stocking it as we do not belive it represents good value for money.
The standard and deluxe sets have been replaced with the Collector Proof Set and the executive set is now a Premium Proof Set.

Royal Mint Monopoly
The Royal Mint have improved their release date policy, and now supply dealers starting in December, which is an improvement. We expect to have many of the 2012 newly issued coin sets and collector coins in stock in December 2011.

Royal Mint Modern Issues
Each year since 1970, the Royal Mint has produced special editions of coin sets for collectors, which are also ideal as gifts. This year for the first time in recent years the uncirculated set and proof sets contain the same nine coins, from the £5 down to the 1 penny

For 2012 there are five variations of UK coin sets available:

• 2012 UK Coins of the Year Set
  Contains the eight circulating coins, from the Two Pounds down to the Penny, but please note they do not contain the commemorative coins or the Crowns.
  We will not be supplying these coin sets this year as we do not feel they offer value for money. The sets have a face value of £3.88, yet the Royal mint are selling them for £20.50.
  
• 2012 UK Brilliant Ten Coin Uncirculated Set
  Contains the nine circulating coins, from the Two Pounds down to the Penny, plus the commemorative £5.
  Although not struck to the same standards as the proof coins, these coins are also specially examined and selected before packaging. They are all superior to the mass produced coins which are made for circulation because of the absence of bag marks and scratches.
  They are also packaged in a colourful attractive and informative folder.
  
• 2012 UK Proof Sets
  "Proof" coins are specially struck with great care and attention. The dies are highly polished on the flat surfaces, with a frosted finish on the design, the blanks from which the coins are struck are also polished before striking (minting), so that the finished coins show their designs to the absolutely best effect. The raised relief parts of the design have a frosted finish, and stand out from the background (field) which has a mirror finish. Each coin is carefully inspected prior to packaging, and is guaranteed to be perfect and without any blemish.

• 2012 UK Collector Proof Set
  All superbly packaged in a newly designed plastic case, and housed within an attractive box, this set replaces the standard and deluxe set.
  
• 2012 UK Premium Proof Set
  As the above Proof Sets, but also containing a Royal Mint Medal. This set replaces the Executive Set.
  We will not be stocking these sets until they come on to the secondary market as demand is never particularly high.
  
• Baby Gift Set
  The coins in the baby gift pack are specially examined and selected before packaging. They are all superior to the mass produced coins which are made for circulation because of the absence of bag marks and scratches.
  They are also packaged in a colourful attractive and informative folder, decorated with teddy bears, a charming way to mark the arrival of a new addition to your family.
