2014 Silver Britannia Proof Sets
The 2014 silver proof issues sees a new standing Britannia design.

This is the second year, the design of the uncirculated and proof versions are different, we believe in an attempt to differentiate between the substandard uncirculated coin and the better quality proof coins.

New Size Sets

New to 2014 is the addition of a fortieth ounce coin, making a six coin set for the first time. Last year, in 2013, a new denomination was released, making a five coin set for the first time. With small denominations running out, there is only two pence and one pence left to increase the set more (unless larger coins are added). Maybe The Royal Mint will stop here and leave the set at six coins for a few years.

Obverse
Fourth Portrait
The obverse bears the Ian Rank-Broadley portrait of Her Majesty the Queen with the legal tender value of each coin below the portrait, in use since 1998, as with all British coins, the obverse design changed to the "fourth portrait", showing a more mature likeness of The Queen.

Reverse Design for 2014
Designed by Jody Clark, the 2014 proof version depicts Britannia standing with a tamed lion at her feet and a three-dimensional globe in the background.
