The Royal Mint have issued a fifty pence coin to commemorate the 150th anniversary since the birth of Beatrix Potter. The coin is the first in a series of five 50 pence coins, each commemorating Beatrix Potter's work.
The other coins in the series are Peter Rabbit, Squirrel Nutkin, Jemima Puddle-Duck and Mrs Tiggy-Winkle

Beatrix Potter was born on 28th July 1866, in Glossop, Derbyshire. Her first book, The Tale of Peter Rabbit, was published on 2nd October, 1902, and was a huge success.
Her other well-known characters include Jemima Puddle-Duck, Squirrel Nutkin, Flopsy, Mopsy and Cotton-Tail.
Beatrix Potter was a not only a famed author and illustrator, but also a conservationist, who worked hard to preserve the Lake District.
The reverse was designed by the Royal Mint engraver, Emma Noble. The coin celebrates the life of Beatrix Potter and features her silhouette, as well as her most famous character, Peter Rabbit.
The obverse is the new portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, by Jody Clark.
The coin comes in a colourful presentation folder.
