Queens Beasts

The Royal Mint began their Queen's Beasts series in 2016. The griffin coins are the second in the series. The first coin featured a lion.

Obverse Design

Jody Clark's portrait of Queen Elizabeth II appears on the obverse of the coin.

Reverse Design

The Griffin of Edward III features on the reverse. It shows a griffin with outstretched wings, grasping the heraldic badge of the House of Windsor in its talons.This was also designed by Jody Clark.
