Featured is a brass sestertius of Antoninus Pius, struck in approximately 145 A.D. the year of his Fourth Consulship. The reverse features Roma seated, in a pose reminiscent of Britannia on some of our own coins.
This coin is quite substantial at 23.8 grams, and the sestertius is one of the best known ancient coin denominations.
