Collecting & Classifying Coloured Diamonds, by Stephen C. Hofer
An Illustrated Study of the Aurora Collection, 750 Pages

Full review to follow shortly, although it may take us some time to read through it!
The Aurora Collection is one of the world's largest collections of natural coloured diamonds ever to be shown in public. It was started by Alan Bronstein of Aurora Gems Corporation, and assembled together with his colleague Harry Rodman. It consists of 260 carefully selected natural fancy colour diamonds, and has been displayed in the J.P. Morgan Memorial Hall of Gems at the American Museum of Natural History in New York.
The book is beautifully produced, each of the 260 diamonds were photographed with precise colour calibration, and the book's printing has also been precisely colour matched and calibrated, so that the diamonds can be seen reproduced as realistically as possible, bearing in mind the colour temperature of the ambient light. There are also a large number of other colour photographs and diagrams.
Overall. the book has been produced with the collector or lover of coloured diamonds in mind, it is not necessary to be a qualified gemmologist to read it.
It may appear to be quite expensive, but specialist books like this are costly to produce. Anybody interested in coloured diamonds should strongly consider buying this book.
Stephen Hofer is very well qualified as the author, is well-read on diamonds, and is an enthusiastic expert on coloured diamonds.
