Featured is a Groat of Charles II, son of Charles I. Charles II was exiled following his father's execution in 1649 but was placed on the throne when the monarchy was restored in 1660, following the collapse of the Commonwealth Government.

Profile portrait of the King, facing right.
Reverse:
Four crowned and intertwined 'C's indicating the 'fourpence' denomination', surrounded by legend which translates as 'King of Great Britain, France and Ireland' with the date at the top.
