Hiddenite

General
Hiddenite is a grass green variety of Spodumene. It is named after A.E. Hidden, the superintendent of the North Carolina mine where it was first found in about 1879. Some pale green spodumene is incorrectly called hiddenite, but true hiddenite derives its coloration from a chromium content, whereas the paler material does not, and should be called green spodumene.
