Shakespeare Silver Medallions
Issued by The Royal Shakespeare Company of Stratford upon Avon and London (R.S.C.)
Struck by John Pinches in hallmarked sterling silver
These medallions were also issued in sterling silver with 24 carat gold plating.

About the Medals
Each medal (or medallion) is 45 millimetres in diameter, weights approximately 39.1 grams, and is made of sterling silver. These medallions were also issued in sterling silver with 24 carat gold plating.
Each of the thirty-eight medals depicts a scene from a different Shakespeare play. All are sculpted and engraved by Philip Nathan, and each is titled appropriately on its obverse (front(. The reverse of each medal contains a quotation from its play, and a note of the act and scene where the quote can be found, all within a border of Tudor roses, with a cartouche above bearing the seal of the Royal Shakespeare Company.
The edge of each medallion is engraved STERLING SILVER JP 71P. There is also a serial number. We presume the "71P" is an internal John Pinches design reference number for the set.
The is also a leaflet for each medal which gives a brief history or synopsis of its play.
