Solitaire or Three Stone?
When does a solitaire with diamond shoulders or side stones become a three stone ring?
We think that when the centre stone forms the main attraction, and the side stones are relatively small, then it shouuld be classed as a solitaire, but it could also depend on where the side stones are placed. Some rings will always be on the borderline between solitaire and three stone.
Whichever you class it as, the ring we show on this page is very desirable. It features a high quality radiant cut centre stone, with two heart shaped diamonds as side stones, placed at quite a sharp angle on the shoulders. It would alter the character of the ring considerably to lower the centre stone or raise the points of the side stones, and with a different treatment, this ring may have looked more like a three stone diamond ring.
As this ring was custom made to order, we do not remember the exact diamond weights, but they were approximately a half carat centre, with two quarter carat heart shapes.
