Brands & Makes of Silver Bar
We see a wide variety of silver bullion bars, and often get asked for them by brand name. Quite apart from any investment value, they seem to have become a collector's item and are also very popular as gifts. The One Kilo size is the weight we are most frequently asked for, but many people also like the 5 kilos bars.
As a result, we have worked hard to source as many different makes as possible, and try to keep as wide a selection as possible in stock. Naturally we do have to charge slightly more for these than for bars of "our choice". Even so, sometimes we completely run out of stock of silver bars of all makes and sizes. Because very few refiners now make silver bars, it is possible for us to go for several months without being able to buy a single bar. When bars are available we often buy the entire lot which can be from 50 kilos in total up to about 500 kilos (half a ton). As these might be sourced from anywhere in the world, we then have to get them shipped and insured to our premises. We can usually only manage to buy such lots about three or four times a year.
There tend to be fewer different brands of 5 kilo bars available compared with 1 kilo bars.
If we have the bar you want in stock, it is best to buy it while it is available, as we only have any one type of bar in stock about 50% of the time.

Investment Potential
Many people consider silver to be a potentially explosive investment. In 1974 the world silver price hit $50 per ounce, about 10 times its current price! In any case, a silver bullion bar makes an unusual gift, they are great as paperweights!
