Silver Bullion Rounds
These are best considered as silver bullion bars, produced privately, but in a circular shape so that they look like coins.
It is possible that some are deliberately made to look like coins so that they can be sold, by less ethical dealers, as rare or unusual coins, particularly on internet auction sites (well, eBay , actually).
Silver bullion rounds are made in a number of different weights, although One Troy Ounce is the commonest. They are made, issued and marketed by a number of different companies. Some have attractive designs, some are well-made with a high quality finish, others look rather cheap and nasty.

Cheap?
One reason for the issue of silver bullion rounds, is that it may be possible to produce them at a lower cost than equivalent coins, although the Royal Canadian Mint, The Perth Mint, and the US Mint, are all quite competitive on the prices of their respective silver bullion coins.
One reason for their lower production cost, if any, may be that their weight and fineness may not be as carefully controlled.

Design
There is no doubt that some of the designs on some of the silver bullion rounds we have seen are quite attractive. In this respect they are rather like medals or medallions, expect that because bullion rounds are usually mass produced and sold at lower prices, closer to their intrinsic silver content value, whereas most medallions are marketed, initially at least, at comparatively high markups.
We like many of the designs, so would not be surprised to find that many coin collectors would also be interested in them. Indeed, we expect a growing community of silver bullion round collectors to emerge.
We intend to show some of the more attractive designs on their own pages on our websites, in which case we will try to maintain small stocks of them for sale as individual items.

VAT
In the UK, silver bullion rounds are subject to VAT, as are bars. This removes much of their investment potential. Because of this, we do not offer new silver bullion rounds for sale.

Attractive Pricing
Because we only deal in second-hand silver bullion rounds, we can resell them on "Special Scheme", so that the only VAT we need to charge is on our (low) profit margin, and it is therefore almost negligible.
This applies particularly to bulk deals, rather than to sales of individual items, as our staff time and administration costs need to be covered. Even so, the price we charge for individual silver bullion rounds will be competitive, and compare favourably with individual purchases of silver bullion coins.

Limited Quantities
The main factor which will affect any potential investor in silver bullion rounds is the fact that we only have access to limited and spasmodic supplies of them.

Condition
As these are not coins, they will never have been in circulation, but unless we arrange otherwise, condition will not be considered to an important factor in any supply of these items. We will however try to supply individual items in better grades, and remove heavily damaged items from resale stock for scrapping.

Silver Bullion Coins

We list a variety of silver bullion coins on our Silver Bullion Coins page.
We sell these by type and by date. On most of them, we also offer lower prices for bulk buyers. Because there is VAT on silver coins in the UK and EU, silver bullion coins are not as attractive an investment as gold bullion coins, which are now exempt from VAT.

Silver Medallions at Bullion Prices
We offer a number of sets of silver medallions at bullion silver prices.
Please check our Medallions section.

We Buy Medals & Medallions
We make an active market in medals and medallions, bullion rounds, whether individually, or in complete sets and collections. Buying and selling prices vary with the market price of silver (or gold where appropriate).
The secondary (secondhand) market prices for silver medallions is usually quite competitively priced, and for connoisseurs of medallic or numismatic art, previously owned medallion sets often represent a bargain especially compared with the original new prices.
Please contact us if you have medals or medallions for sale.
