Spanish 5 Peseta Silver Crown Coins of Alphonso XII
Born on 28th November 1857, Alfonso left Spain in 1868 with his mother Queen Isabela II, due to the revolution. His mother abdicated in his favour on 25th June 1870, and, following a coup d'etat, the monarchy was restored in 1875. He reigned until his death from T.B. on 25th November 1885. Although he was the first Alfonso to be king of Spain, he was styled as XII (twelfth) becasue the Spanish crown is regarded as continuous with the eleven kings of León and Castile also named Alfonso.
There were three different type issues of silver 5 peseta crowns for Alfonso.
