During the first four years of his reign coinage struck bore the name and portrait of Henry VII, the exception to this was the half sovereign. The half sovereign bears the name of Henry VIII but the youthful portrait of Edward VI.

Obverse
The youthful portrait of Edward VI with sceptre sat on the throne.

Reverse
Crowned shield supported by ithyphallic lion and dragon standing on scrollwork.
