Edward VI Sixpence

Edward VI was the sickly son of Henry VIII who ascended to the throne when he was nine years old and ruled for a mere 6 years. In spite of this, a couple of new denominations made their first appearence during his reign, including this sixpence, from his third coinage issue. This sixpence was among the first sixpences to ever be issued.

Obverse:
Three quarter portrait of King with Tudor Rose to the left of the portrait and the denomination to the right.

Reverse:
Royal Coat of Arms surrounded by Latin Legend which translates as 'I have made God my Helper'.
