William III
Shillings were issued for William III (William of Orange) from 1695 to 1701 inclusive. In addition to being struck at the Royal Mint in London, they were also struck at Bristol, Chester, Exeter and York.
Provenance marks were used of roses or plumes in the angles between the shields, and there are numerous small changes in the portrait and the shields.
The following is a description of the general type:

Obverse:
Bust of William facing right, the obverse inscription reads:
GULIELMUS (GVLIELMVS) III DEI GRA

Reverse:
Crowned cruciform shields, plain, or with four roses or four plumes in the angles.

The reverse legend reads:
MAG BR FRA ET HIB REX (date)

Edge
The edge is milled.
