George II Crowns
The silver crowns of George II are very interesting. There are two different portraits used, the young head bust used from 1732 to 1741, followed by the older bust used from 1743 to 1751.
In addition to this, there are coins with provenance marks as a prominent design feature. Four roses in the angles between the shields on the reverse signified silver from the West Country mines, two roses alternated with two plumes shows silver from the "Company for Smelting Down Lead with Sea Coale and Pit Coale", LIMA denotes that the silver was obtained as a result of British privateering raids on Spanish South America, notably from Lima Bay in Peru.

Reverse
The reverse design shows four crowned shields, as introduced on crowns of Charles II onwards. The shields bear the coat of arms of the Duchy of Brunswick and Luneburg, France, Scotland and England, and Ireland.
In the four angles between the shields appear four roses, two roses and two plumes, or nothing, which is generally described as "plain".
