1811 John Smalpage Silver Shilling Token

Featured is a silver token issued by John Smalpage and S. Lumb, with a family coat of arms on the obverse. The reverse features a reclining figure of reminiscent of Britannia, but with a scales and cornucopia that presumably represents the Roman Goddess of fairness, Aequitas. Presumably, this merchant was eager to promote a reputation for fair dealing with this token!
