Victoria Young Head
The Young Head portrait depicts a 19 year old Queen Victoria as she looked when she first ascended the throne. This portrait was replaced by the 'Bun Head' on the Penny, Half-Penny and Farthing, but continued on other coins until 1887, when it was replaced by the Jubilee Head Portrait.

The obverse inscription reads:
VICTORIA DEI GRATIA BRITTANNIAR REG F D

Reverse:
The reverse design bears the inscription "ONE SHILLING" in centre surrounded by a wreath and crown.
The reverse legend reads:
1865

Edge
The edge is milled.
