Blackpool Coronation Celebration Medallion Edward VII 1902
This medal was issued by Blackpool corporation or council in 1902 to commemorate the coronation of King Edward VII and his consort Queen Alexandra. It measures 38mm. in diameter, and was struck in white metal.

Obverse
The obverse features conjoined busts of Edward and Alexandra, with the inscription:
THEIR MOST GRACIOUS MAJESTIES EDWARD VII & ALEXANDRA

Reverse
The reverse shows the coat-of-arms of Blackpool, and the inscription:
BLACKPOOL CORONATION CELEBRATION
JUNE 26 1902
ALD JAMES HOWARTH J.P. MAYOR MISS HOWARTH MAYORESS

Date Variations
These medallions are found with two different dates, 26th June 1902, and 9th August 1902. This is because the coronation was originally scheduled for the earlier date, but Edward had to undergo an emergency appendectomy operation, so the coronation was postponed until the later date. Compare this with the 1902 Coronation Medallion - Official.
