George V Bare Head
Although the brass threepence was introduced in 1937, the silver (0.500 fine) threepence continued to be struck for some years afterwards, due to its popularity in Scotland and certain overseas colonies (including Malta).
The 1942, 1943, 1944 and 1945 silver threepence were struck exclusively for colonial use, and are quite scarce compared to those of previous years.

The obverse inscription reads:

Reverse:
The reverse design consists of a shield on a rose, inscription reads:
