The obverse shows Sir Francis Chichester on the deck of Gypsy Moth, with the legend.

The reverse shows a kneeling figure of Neptune, holding a trident and laurel wreath, superimposed on a world map. Behind are the two ships Gipsy Moth IV and the Golden Hind. The legend (inscription) reads:
