1974 General Election Medallions
On the 28th February 1974 the United Kingdom held a general election, one that would not result in an overall majority but a hung parliment. As stated on the reverse of both medallions, Labour narrowly won by 301 votes to the Conservatives 296. This put in place a Labour prime minister, Harold Wilson. A second general election was held in the October of the same year one whch saw Labour take majority.

We currently have two medallions to commemorate the first general election in 1974, one silver and one bronze. Each showing the same obverse of the House of Commons. The reverse of the medallions shows the results for the general election. The silver medallion comes complete with a brown box. The bronze medallion comes in a plastic presentation case as issued by Sandhill at the time.

Buying & Selling
Buyers and sellers alike may be interested to note that gold medallions like these often trade at prices close to their intrinsic metal value. While this may not be what sellers wish to hear, it should delight potential buyers.
At the time of creating this page, we had a one of these medallions in stock, and would be happy to sell it for a modest premium over their intrinsic gold content, however as with many pages of our website, this page has a dual purpose, to sell our stock, and to provide information. If you have a similar medallion, which you would like to sell, we would be pleased to hear from you.
