Gold Sovereigns
We keep in stock almost every date of gold sovereign including 1982, in fact for 1982 we can offer a choice of gold sovereign types.

• Uncirculated
  Sovereigns were not issued in every year, but 1982 is one year for which uncirculated sovereigns are available.
  We keep them in stock permanently, our current price on them is £85 each.
  They are ideal just as they are, although we can supply a leatherette case for £2, and we can also supply ring and pendant mounts for them, for those who like to wear their coins in jewellery. Sovereign pendants can be worn by men or women, sovereign rings are quite large and are more suitable for larger mens hands.
• Proof
  Proofs are specially struck coins, with a highly polished mirror finished background, and the raised design in contrasting matt finish. They are issued as limited editions, and are more expensive than the ordinary uncirculated version.
  1982 proof sovereigns are contained in a plastic capsule within a Royal Mint leatherette wallet, and are accompanied by a certificate.
  They are unnecessarily good for use in jewellery, which would ruin their special finish in a very short space of time, but they are ideal for the person who would prefer to keep them as a memento or family heirloom.
  

Half Sovereigns

Krugerrands
Although we don't get asked for krugers as frequently as sovereigns, they are a suitable and unusual alternative.
They are available for 1982, and also fractional sizes of krugerrands were introduced in 1980 for the first time.
The four sizes of krugerrand are:-

• Half Ounce
• Quarter Ounce
• Tenth Ounce

1982 Gold Sovereign Proof Sets
In 1982, the Royal Mint issued 4-coin proof gold sovereign sets. These consist of a gold sovereign, half sovereign, two pound coin, and five pound coin.
They were struck as a limited edition, but we usually have one in stock. They make a very special gift, and naturally are quite expensive.

Other British Coins
There were no British crowns issued in 1982, but it was the first year in which the twenty pence was issued, and there was a change in the legends on British coins.
