Ireland Starts Using The Euro on January 1st 2002
Our Irish sets are now in stock - 8th January 2002
On new year's day 2002, Ireland, like the other 11 members of the Eurozone, started using Euro notes and Euro coins for cash transactions. Within a few months, the old coins and banknotes in Punts were withdrawn. We have uncirculated sets of Euro coins from all of the twelve member countries available from stock, and are accepting orders now.

Dates
The Irish Central Bank has advised us that it has not issued any Euro coins dated 1999, 2000, or 2001. Its first, and therefore only date so far is 2002, this applies to circulation coins and also coins in official sets.
We now have Irish Euro starter packs in stock.

Eight Coins Per Set
All national Euro sets contain all 8 coin denominations unless otherwise stated.

Packaging & Presentation
We now have uncirculated mint sets of coins from all 12 Euro zone countries in stock. Our Irish Euro sets are packaged in an attractive card within a 2-sided plastic case so that the coins can be viewed from both sides or removed if required. We have started to receive information about official issue mint or proof sets. We presume that most if not all of the countries will issue these, but it is by no means certain, and they could be quite late in 2002 before they are available. Some countries have only just issued their 1999 and 2000 coin sets!

Official Mint Sets
We have received our initial order of the official Irish mint Euro sets for 2002, which we show on the right. These sets are already sold out at the Irish Central Bank, and we are unable to get any more from our original source. The issue limit at only 20,000 was the lowest mintage of all the official uncirculated sets, so we are not surprised it has sold out very quickly. We still have stocks. All orders already received will be supplied at our pre-release price. We can accept new orders at the price shown below. If our stock position changes we will update this page.

2 Euro The Government in Ireland decided on a single national design for all Irish coin denominations. They show the Celtic harp, a traditional symbol of Ireland, decorated with the year of issue and the word "Eire" - the Irish word for Ireland. The harp shown was designed by Jarlath Hayes.
1 Euro As for the 2 Euro except for their size and colour.
50 Euro Cents As for the 2 Euro except for their size and colour.
20 Euro Cents As for the 2 Euro except for their size and colour. Note the 7 indents or scallops on the edge.
10 Euro Cents As for the 2 Euro except for their size and colour.
5 Euro Cents As for the 2 Euro except for their size and colour.
2 Euro Cents As for the 2 Euro except for their size and colour.
1 Euro Cent As for the 2 Euro except for their size and colour.
