2008 First Coinage of Canadian Mint Coin and Stamp
On January 2nd 1908 the first domestically-produced coin was struck at the Royal Canadian Mint. The Mint have issued this silver coin and stamp to commemorate the first coinage of the Canadian mint.
Description
The commemorative stamp shows the first coin that was struck at the Royal Canadian Mint in Ottawa. According to the certificate 'the stamp was created using embossing to give the impression that an actual coins was dropped on the stamp'.
The reverse of the silver 50 cents coin features a double-date (1908-2008), a crown and a wreath of maple leaves round the sides of the coin.
The obverse features King Edward VII.
