Not Available at The Royal Mint

On 10th March, 2016, we discovered that the Royal Mint no longer have the coin for sale.

Prince George

Prince George Alexander Louis was born on 22nd July 2013. As third in line to the throne, he has attracted a lot of attention from the media and fans alike.

We don't know how Prince George will celebrate his second birthday. For his first birthday, his parents, Kate and William, held a small tea party. Guests included Kate's parents, Pippa Middleton, the Queen, Prince Harry and Zara Tindall.

Design

Reverse

The reverse of the coin was designed by esteemed artist Christopher Le Brun. It features another famous George, Saint George. Le Brun's design has him on top of his horse, ready to slay the dragon. The name George is thought to represent stability and unity which is why they chose England's patron Saint to celebrate the future King's birthday.

Obverse

The obverse features the fifth portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Royal Mint designer, Jody Clark.

In Demand?

To date all of the previous Prince George coins have sold out at The Royal Mint. The last birthday crown sold out within days! We think the novelty may have worn off so this coin may not sell as well as the others, despite the fact we quite like the design on this one.
