Princess Charlotte of Cambridge was born on 2nd May, 2015, at St Mary's Hospital in London. This is the same hospital where both Princes William and Harry were both born, as well as her older brother, George.
Her full name is Charlotte Elizabeth Diana. Charlotte is the feminine form of Charles, named after her grandfather, Prince Charles. Her middle names come from her great-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II and her late grandmother, Princess Diana.
Princess Charlotte is fourth in line to the throne.
Reverse
The reverse design is by sculptor, John Bergdahl, and is a very traditional design. Bergdahl also designed Prince George's Royal Christening Crown, and wanted to keep this coin in line with the traditional appearance of the other coin.
The coin reads "CELEBRATE THE SECOND CHILD OF THE DUKE AND DUCHESS OF CAMBRIDGE 2015"
Obverse
The obverse features the fifth portrait of Queen Elizabeth II designed by Royal Mint designer, Jody Clark. Interestingly, the coin features '5 pounds' instead of the word 'five'. We noticed this straight away when looking at it and think this may be the first time The Royal Mint have used the number instead of the word on coins.
The coin comes in an attractive presentation folder with an informational booklet about the births of William and Harry, the Middleton siblings and the Queen's children.
We received the silver proof coins along with the uncirculated versions on 29th May, 2015.
The silver proof coin comes encapsulated inside a presentation box. It also comes with an informational booklet.
