The 2016 Australian Kookaburras from the Perth Mint were released on 2nd November, 2015.
We received our delivery of 1oz coin on 10th November, 2015.
9th May, 2016 - The Perth Mint have now sold out of the one ounce silver kookaburras, meaning once we have run out of stock we will not be able to source any more.

Kookaburra Design
The reverse of the 2016 coin features a kookaburra on top of a fence post. The Australian outback can be seen in the background. It has the Perth Mint's 'P' mintmark on the left hand side.
The obverse has Ian Rank-Broadley's fourth portrait of Queen Elizabeth II.
The coins are struck in 99.9% fine silver and are Australian legal tender.
Mintage
The one ounce coin will have a mintage figure of 500,000, whilst the other sizes will be made on a "mint-to-order" basis.
As always, each coin comes in its own protective plastic capsule.

Kookaburras
The laughing kookaburra is the largest member of the kingfisher species and is synonymous with the Australian outback. Kookaburras are carnivores and eat young birds, insects, reptiles, snakes and mice. Although they are native to Australia, they can also be found in New Guinea and the Aru Islands.
