Royal Mint Modern Issues

The Royal Mint have been producing coin sets for collectors since 1970. They are also ideal to give as gifts.

There are four different coin sets produced for the year 2016 coins. We are stocking the 2016 UK Annual Brilliant Uncirculated Sixteen Coin Set.

The set was released on 23rd November, 2015 and we received our first delivery on 26th November.

Baby Coin Sets

If you are looking for a coin set to mark a new arrival or christening, the Royal Mint have produced a 2016 My First Coins and Baby Journal Set which we have available here.

Last Round Pound

The set features the last round pound to be issued. It is to be replaced by a new, twelve sided version in 2017. The 2016 edition of the £1 coin will not go into circulation and will only be available in the sets, as well as individually later in the year.

For 2016 there are four variations of UK coin sets available:

2016 UK Annual Brilliant Uncirculated Sixteen Coin Set

The set contains the eight circulating coins, from the Two Pounds down to the Penny, plus the commemorative £5, £2's and 50 pence.
Although not struck to the same standards as the proof coins, these coins are also specially examined and selected before packaging. They are all superior to the mass produced coins which are made for circulation because of the absence of bag marks and scratches.
They are also packaged in a colourful attractive and informative folder.

2016 UK Annual Brilliant Uncirculated Sixteen Coin Set

2016 Commemorative Proof Coin Set

Contains the eight commemorative coins for this year. All superbly packaged in a newly designed plastic case, and housed within an attractive box, this set replaces the standard and deluxe set.
We will not be stocking this set as we do not believe it represents value for money. The sets have a face value of £20.38, yet The Royal Mint are selling them for £95.

2016 Collector Proof 16 Coin Set

Contains the eight circulating coins, from the Two Pounds down to the Penny, plus the commemorative £5, £2's and 50 pence. All superbly packaged in a newly designed plastic case, and housed within an attractive box.
We will not be stocking this set as we do not believe it represents value for money. The sets have a face value of £20.38, yet The Royal mint are selling them for £145.

2016 UK Premium Proof 16 Coin Set

As the above Proof Sets, but also containing a Royal Mint Medal. This set replaces the Executive Set.
We will not be stocking these sets until they come on to the secondary market as demand is never particularly high. The sets have a face value of £20.38 + Premium Medal (!), yet The Royal Mint are selling them for £195.
