12-Sided One Pound

The round £1 design was introduced in 1983 but in recent years it has suffered from counterfeiting, with as many as one in thirty being fake. The 12-sided design features aRMour® full-plate technology, which uses an electroplating system, combining several layers of different metals being electroplated onto a steel core. This makes it difficult  to replicate.

The reverse, Nations of the Crown design features floral symbols from the four nations of the United Kingdom. The rose for England, the leek for Wales, the thistle for Scotland and a shamrock for Northern Ireland. The floral engraving covers both the inner 'silver' centre and the 'gold' band

The obverse features the fifth portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, designed by Jody Clark.

Silver Proof

The silver proof version comes in a box, with a certificate of authenticity.

*We cannot confirm delivery dates and it may take more than 30 days from the order acceptance date.

Please, if you are going to ask us whether the £2 coin you own is worth more than £2, please, please, please read our other pages about them first, and even then the answer is almost certainly no. About 1,000 people every week read one or more of our pages about £2 coins. Hopefully most manage to find what they wanted. A tiny percentage, but still about 20 per week ask us whether a £2 they have found in change / in a drawer / been given is worth more than £2. The answer to 99% of these questions is already on our site. We do not have the time or patience to answer such questions individually. the Lowest Possible Price
