Australian Chinese Lunar Calendar Silver Bullion Coins

One Ounce Silver Bullion Coins
Australia first issued a one ounce silver bullion coin, the Kookaburra, in 1990.
In 1999, it was decided to issue a silver Chinese Lunar Year series of silver bullion coins, following the success of the gold versions which started in 1996.
To bring the silver series in line with gold in 2007 it was decided to complete series one by releasing the 2008 Mouse, 2009 Ox and 2010 Tiger.
This means that for these dates there will be two coins, one series I and one series II. The series one coins are of slightly different specifications and for 2008-2010 the coins are dual dated.

7 Sizes of Silver Bullion Coins
In 1992, the Perth Mint introduced large silver bullion coins, in weights of two ounce, ten ounces and one kilogramme (31.1 ounces). For 2002 there is also a half ounce version, and from 2004, there are 5 ounce and half kilo versions.

Other Versions
We are now starting to stock some of the Perth Mint collectable coins. For the Chinese Lunar Calendar Series II we have available from stock the 2008 Year of the Mouse gilded coin and the 2008 Year of the Mouse 4 Coin Type Set.

Obviously in twelve years we might be able to offer the complete collection, but we can't guarantee this as the one ounce rabbits and dragons have sold out completely. A more exciting - and guaranteed - way of obtaining the complete collection would be to start collecting them now!
The complete sets of the first series of the Chinese lunar calendar sold out within six months of the second series starting!
