Blue Diamonds
Natural fancy coloured diamonds are very rare and expensive. Blue is one of the rarest and most desirable colours. The Hope diamond, which we have viewed in the Smithsonian Institution in Washington D.C., is the most famous blue diamond in the world, and the largest at 45.52 carats. The attempted Millennium Dome Diamond Robbery was an attempt to steal 12 large diamonds valued at a total of £200 million, an average of over £16 million each. Eleven out of the twelve diamonds were fancy coloured blue diamonds! The twelfth (non-blue) diamond weighed 203 carats.

If you would like a natural fancy intense coloured blue diamond of, say, one carat, be prepared to pay about a million pounds for it! We also get asked about small blue stones, from about 3 to 10 points, and although we are constantly on the lookout for them, we feel they may look rather insignificant at this size. They might be OK as shoulder stones for a large solitaire.

Three stones make an ideal dress ring but could be equally as nice as an engagement ring.
Three stone diamond rings are a popular and timeless classic. The usual choice is between graduated or uniform size, and straight or crossover styles, but once you introduce the element of different colours, the possible number of combinations increases considerably.
