A Brief History

Struck in copper, the Half Farthing was struck intermittently for colonial use between 1828 and 1856 (apart from a proof version struck in 1868). In 1856 (the last year in which the circulation issue was struck, the weight was reduced slightly from 2.4 grams to 2.3 grams. The denomination was finally demonitised in 1869.
