Investing in Precious Metals
It has long been traditional to invest in gold, but it is also possible to invest in silver, platinum, or other metals. Precious metals have the great advantage that they are very compact and portable stores of wealth. We give some general advice about investing in the three main precious metals.
VAT
Investment gold became exempt from VAT on January 1st 2000 in the UK and EU, but is still payable on silver, platinum or other investment metals.

Although we theoretically deal in Palladium Coins, there are very few about. We do not have a separate page about investing in palladium. There are no other precious metals which are readily available as coins or small bars for investment.
