The Kite Shape
It is possible to cut diamonds into quite a large number of different and interesting shapes. One of the oldest of the "fancy" or unusual shapes is the kite shape, sometimes called a diamond shape because it resembles the side view of a diamond.
As in our photograph, the proportion of the profile is usually too deep for an ideal modern brilliant cut, and the shape resembles the profile of a very old cut of diamond. This shape appears so ingrained into our memories and imagination, that most graphic artists would select it as a diamond symbol.

Better Than a Trilliant
As it happens, we think the kite shape makes quite a good shape to use as a matching pair on either side of a major solitaire diamond.
