Commemorating 1100 Years in Minting
Struck in 1986 to commemorate the Royal Mint's 1100 years in minting.
Obverse
The obverse features the Royal Mint's Arms, originally granted during the reign of Queen Elizabeth II, with the inscription:
COMMEMORATING ELEVEN HUNDRED YEARS IN MINTING

Reverse
The reverse bears the portrait of Alfred the Great taken fromthe now famous London monogram penny, alongside the portrait of Her Majesty the Queen taken from a 1986 penny. Below is the London monogram from the reverse of the Alfred penny and above the Royal Mint Llantrisant mark - a cross crosslet fitchy.

The 100 year medallion weighs 148.4 grammmes and has a diameter of 63mm. It has been struck in sterling (.925) silver, with an issue limit of 1,100.
